AI is already making a big impact in the audit space—boosting speed, accuracy, and efficiency at many leading firms—while keeping the auditor's judgment central to the process.
For a traditionally cautious sector, the growth of AI in audit seems uncharacteristically exponential. It’s clearly having a positive impact. That being said, AI adoption in internal audit tells a different story.
This raises an important question: “Why is internal audit more hesitant to embrace new technology compared to, for example, external audit?”. This, in turn, raises a second, more interesting question: “What real-world, day-to-day benefits could internal audit teams gain from adopting AI?”
